It was a very sad day for me yesterday, it was the first anniversary of the death of our beloved dog Elke. She was a Border Collie X Keeshond, a wonderful mix of intelligence, energy, loyalty and love. She was amazing with our kids, faithful and patient, and she had this amazing protectiveness over them whenever they played outside - standing guard watching over them for hours.
Sadly, at age 12, she lost a very short battle with nasal cancer last July, when she passed away quietly at home. A year has passed now, but I still get choked up whenever I think of her. I have been designing photo book in her memory this week, I though if I left it long enough, I would be able to get through it without sobbing - but nope! She is sorely missed, but at least we have so many wonderful memories of her to cherish.
On a lighter note, recently I conducted a fundraising event for a local C&K Kindergarten. These mini family shoots were a fantastic way for families to have an updated photo, without having to spend an hour trying to wrangle small kids into smiling and behaving themselves during a full session! We kept the sessions short and sweet, and captured some lovely family moments!
I love mini shoots because I need to be on my toes - its challenging and super fun to engage with the kids as quickly as I can. Add in the fundraising element for such a wonderful organisation , well its a lovely feeling to be part of it all!
Some families elected not to have their images shared online (and I always respect and honour that request), but here is some of my favourites images from the morning session of our fundraising mini shoots.
Nereeda and her family were bathed in this gorgeous morning light!
Kirsty and her gorgeous four!
Melissa and her family loved hamming it up for the camera!
Lots of big smiles from Dolly and her family!
Its so cool getting to meet so many wonderful families!
Stay tuned for part 2 of these Fundraising Mini Shoots next week!
