Its been a while since we've had a puppy to contend with, but since our little Yohsi has come to be part of our family, we've had a bit of a wake-up call to just how much mischief a puppy can get into. Once they grow out of that "puppy" stage, you tend to forget all the crazy little things they do. I can no longer vacuum or mop the house without having a puppy fly at it and attack the end of the vacuum or mop, thinking its a game. Now I have to lock her in the crate just to do a clean up. Anything on the floor is fair game to her. And anything and everything is apparently edible to a 16 week old puppy. Chair legs, carpet, kids school craft, wooden Lego boxes, toys, laundry baskets, rubbish bin (and contents) - its all fun to chew and eat, but less fun for mummy to wait for her to poo it out the other end. I've spent a few nights worrying about her ending up with digestive blockages from her eating things that just aren't food! She even thinks chicken necks are to be swallowed whole, just to freak me out! But this little girl has brought so much laughter to our lives - I always thought that English Bull Terriers were a little scary looking... and yes they can have that appearance, but wow can looks be deceiving! We are absolutely LOVING this breed and quickly understanding why they are often referred to as "Clowns in dog suits" - so affectionate, boisterous, smart and loyal - oh and did I mention she is absolutely hilarious? Just wish she'd stop eating the furniture! I have been blessed and fortunate enough to capture Rebecca and her beautiful family on several occasions now, and it has been so lovely to see this little family grow over time! Little Patrick is just a joy to photograph, so cheeky and chatty and smiley all at the same time! He did everything we asked of him and more during their family/maternity session and I'm sure he will be a very attentive big brother! Then sweet little Maisie arrived, absolutely perfect in every way! Just 7 days old in these images, she nailed her newborn portrait session and even gave us a few little smirks and smiles along the way. And Patrick just loved having his photo taken with his new baby sister. Thank you so much Rebecca and Dan for asking me to capture these precious memories for you!

A few weeks ago, in a burst of Christmas cheer, I decided to buy the kids their first ever gingerbread house-making kit. I'm sure we've all seen Pinterest-worthy images of cute kids making cute gingerbread houses - hours of fun, laughter and family bonding, right? Hah! I surprised the kids with the kit last weekend, thinking this would get us all in the Christmas spirit, ready to put up the tree and be jolly for the day. Well... things didn't quite go as planned. Mr 6 was more interested in eating the lollies than actually constructing the house - and while miss 7 was more into it, she lacked the skills to assemble the thing and so it all fell to me. We took the project outside to minimise the mess, and we propped and prodded the gingerbread walls, stuck them down with icing and let them merrily decorate away - until we then realised that we hadn't left any room for the gingerbread doors or the walls on the other ends. Prising apart sticky, gooey icing & gingerbread, sweat dripping, tempers flaring, ants and dogs hovering for the crumbs... well the fun, happy moment quickly soured and we struggled to put it back together again. Finally we called it "good enough", took a few photos and told the kids they could eat it. One bite and they both decided the didn't actually like gingerbread and could they just eat the lollies and icing instead? Oh well, at least we can say we tried! There is something just so lovely about maternity sessions - the excitement, the joy and the love are so special to capture. Its such a privilege to share these moments with such beautiful families! Tamara and Ross came to Tamborine for their mini maternity session (complimentary with all Newborn Sessions booked) and we were blessed with some stunning afternoon light and these lovely memories celebrating that gorgeous bump :) And then just a few weeks later, their cute little George was here! Oh so sweet and at just 13 days old, he was a little reluctant to go to sleep at first. He finally drifted off so we could capture these moments for his family.
