We took our sheltered "country" kids for a day out in the big smoke last weekend... the day was originally going to be a beach day, but the showery weather saw us change our minds at the last moment and head to the city instead. We've always talked about taking them on a Citycat to see the city from the river perspective, and we finally did it! Miss 8 just loved being able to see the skyscrapers up close... she wears her excitement on her face and she was beaming. The ferry ride was a little fear that she needed to overcome (she's seen too many episodes of 'River Monsters' and heard too many stories of Bull Sharks in rivers) - but after the initial tears, she had the time of her life! Master 6 loved the river... loved the wind in his hair and loved pointing out all the cranes on the top of highrises. After getting caught in the rain, it was a quick bite to eat and then off to explore the museum for the afternoon. The kids are at a great age to enjoy these experiences, we really need to do this more often! We were blessed with some absolutely stunning afternoon light for Thayz's maternity session here at Tamborine! This gorgeous mumma was absolutely glowing - it was so much fun capturing her with these handsome boys... and these matching Celtics shirts at the end of the session was so cool, especially including a tiny little green romper for bub number 3! Then before too long, their handsome little Samuel was here! So that the boys could play with their own toys when they weren't needed, we shot Thayz's newborn session in the comfort of their own home - although it was such a stinking hot day, it was difficult to be comfortable anywhere! Thank you also to Thayz for a little "behind the scenes" shot while I was working too (see below). The 3 young boys did so well under such sticky, humid conditions and we managed to capture some lovely family images for the family to treasure. Thayz says: "Booked a maternity and newborn photo session with Hilary. Can't praise her work enough. She was very patient with both our boys (4 and 1 yr olds) during the maternity session. The newborn shoot was in our house, the day couldn't be hotter! Our 1 yr old was in the worst mood possible and Hilary was the most understanding photographer on Earth that day! If you think newborns are hard to photograph, well....siblings aren't easier! How she managed to get a photo with him not screaming is beyond me! Will definitely hire her services again if needed!" Thank you so much, Simpson Family!!

Ok... with just 8 weeks to go until the Gold Coast Half Marathon, I'm starting to slightly freak out! The last few weeks haven't been too kind to me, and I've been struggling through hip, calf and Achilles issues. Its nothing too serious but it means I've had to have some treatment to sort it out before the training ramps up in the next few weeks. I've been having Bowen Therapy, which has been amazing - but it unfortunately also means you cannot do any exercise for about 3 days after the session. Sooo, frustration levels are super high - not only has my running been limited, but when I do run, my pace is slow... I'm not going to let it stop me though - my goal for my first ever half marathon is to simply finish it. I'm not pressuring myself with time goals (although doing it under 2 hours 40mins would be lovely) - I just want to enjoy the experience and not wreck myself in the process! I met little Ryan for his newborn session when he was 6 weeks old - still a newborn but also just that little bit older - very much alert and wondering what was going on! He was very calm though and happy to be held and posed, flashing those gorgeous brown eyes at me and giving us some cute expressions... Mum Kelly was really hoping for some sleeping shots too so we focused on getting him to sleep (he really didn't want to!) and with lots of patience and perseverance, we got there! I'm so happy for Kelly and Shailen that we were able to capture these sleeping images too. Kelly said: "Hilary did incredible job with our newborn shoot! She is so friendly, lovely and easy to deal with we were very comfortable with her. She has a wonderful experience in photography. Hilary has lot of patience with babies. She knows how to handle them. We are very happy with her job. We highly recommend to all. We keep in touch with her for our future photography. Thanks Hilary you are gorgeous." |
