Once upon a time I was a full-on gym junkie. Before kids, I was at the gym doorstep every weekday morning at 5.30am without fail. Weights, cycle & step classes were my therapy. Then kids came along and exercise became more sporadic, I lost my mojo for it, and yes often it fell to the back of the priority queue as the demands of mum-life took over. But something has happened in the last few months - I've become a runner. I started jogging with a few friends once a week - we started with the 5km Park run course on Tamborine Mountain and I just about died doing those early runs! I switched to running on the road/pathways not long after that (my ankles dont cope with trail runs) and I was hooked! And now I spend lots of time thinking about my next run, reading up on improving my endurance and speed, and any spare cash I have is being forked out on running gear. Earlier this year I was talked into doing a 10km event (on Sunday the 3rd March) and now I'm even thinking about signing up for a half marathon later in the year! I've been bitten by the running bug - and I'm loving it, its so nice to have a sporty hobby again and something to train towards! How much fun are beach photo shoots?? Its been a little while since my last beach session but it was well worth the wait :) Toni organised this photo shoot from her home base in Sydney to coincide with an extended family holiday on the Gold Coast. And even though the sun was playing hide and seek that afternoon, we all had an absolute blast running around on the beach and chasing the kids around. Toni said: "We booked Hilary for a family photo shoot (13 people including 8 adults & 5 kids under 7). We are from interstate & Hilary was very easy (& punctual) to deal with through the whole process from booking to receiving our images. The family had been a bit apprehensive about getting any good photos with all of the young children, but everybody felt at ease with Hilary & she got some fantastic shots for us. Thank you Hilary for capturing some beautiful shots that our family can treasure for years to come." Thank you guys for sharing a fun afternoon with me!

Last Sunday night's storm was a bit of a doozy wasn't it? In our little part of the world, it kinda felt like a cyclone hit us. Miss 8 was squealing and quivering with fright every time a loud clap of thunder hit (although Mr 6 thought it was the coolest thing ever). We are pretty thankful right now that we didn't suffer any damage except for a few trees down - luckily nowhere near the house. So many in our neighbourhood weren't as lucky and driving down Leach Rd was like driving through a war zone. Fences smashed, gutters ripped off, power lines torn down and trees and debris all over the road... we lost power for 24 hours but that was a small inconvenience. How did you fare? And how are you coping with this heat? Will it ever end? I loved getting to know Daniela and her beautiful family during their maternity and newborn sessions... little Noah loved being thrown up in the air and being able to explore the paddock here at Tamborine while we captured some maternity memories for his gorgeous mum and dad! Sweet little Ava Grace was born just before Christmas and so was my very first newborn session of 2018! This session was held in her own home on the Gold Coast so that Daniela, Christian and big brother Noah could relax and go about their morning while I focused on capturing some beautiful memories of their precious little girl! Here are some of our favourites from the day: So another birthday went by last week... and yup I'm starting to get to the stage where we don't count them anymore! Well my lovely husband thought he'd surprise us to a bit of a day out to celebrate - and took us ice skating! I'd been a bit hesitant to go ice skating, and mainly because I used to figure skate when I was a kid. I trained for about 5 years, spent half my childhood in the rink and was absolutely devastated to have to give it up when I was 14. So it was like stepping back in time on Sunday, and I stood there on the ice thinking "When I was last here, I never ever imagined that I would be back one day, teaching my two kids how to glide and swizzle..." We all absolutely loved it - we spent the entire 3 hours laughing and giggling at the kids (and ourselves), Master 6 deciding that faster was better (despite looking like an octopus with arms and legs flailing everywhere!) and Miss 8's grin never left her face the entire time - best day ever, apparently (apart from those awful rental-skates!) And I didn't fall over once - yay me! Have you ever been ice skating? Oh I am so loving photographing all these stunning mamas-to-be, lately! There is so much beautiful excitement, nervous energy (I totally get it!) and love between couples during this amazing time in your lives, its really such a special honour to be able to capture a small piece of it. Breanna & Jared's session was held at my Tamborine property - and although the sun was playing hide and seek a little on this day, we still captured some lovely moments to treasure... And then it was time to meet this little cutie! Madden came to the studio for his newborn portrait shoot and snoozed away for most of the session - what a superstar! Thanks so much Breanna and Jared for asking me to capture these precious memories! Here's a few of the favourites: |
