I will openly admit that I can be incredibly annoying at times - often stubborn, sometimes fickle and rather untidy when it comes to housework and other boring chores... but lately I've noticed another annoying habit of mine, and I just cant stop myself. You see, since we got our Mini Bull Terrier puppy Yohsi (pronounced YOE-see), well, I just cant stop talking about her. I can hear myself blabbering on about her, telling funny stories about her latest escapades, describing the chaos she creates, laughing about how funny she is... and its like I KNOW I'm being annoying - in the back of my mind I can hear myself saying "SHUT UP HIL"... but I keep doing it anyway. I'm not the only one - if anything, my husband is worse! Its like he's doing the "Proud dad" thing all over again - he cant stop showing photos of his new baby to everyone - in fact, we both cant stop talking about this bloody dog! If you've ever had the pleasure of knowing a Bull Terrier, with their hilarious personalities, you must know what I mean. But if you're a friend of mine, or a client, or a random stranger and have been subjected to my constant waffling about our new dog, I sincerely apologise! When Shanah, Lachie and Josh came for a mini maternity session at Tamborine recently, little Josh wasn't in the happiest of moods - it took lots of cuddles from mum (including some inside the studio) to coax some smiles and laughter out of him! These are some of the favourites from this session: And then soon after, Josh's baby brother Charlie was here! Josh was super excited to give his little brother some lovely cuddles and kisses during this studio session - I always love how much enthusiasm the older siblings show when they get to hold the new bub! Little Charlie was just amazing and we were able to capture some lovely moments for this beautiful family to treasure.

Woah... is it just me, or did term 1 FLY past? I seriously cant believe that we are almost a quarter of the way through the school year already. There is one dead giveaway though - my kids emotions are on overdrive at the moment. Bickering, tired and emotional and just about done, I reckon. I knew that miss 8 was tired when she burst into tears over breaking her fingernail O_O I think we'll be keeping it low-key during this school holidays, a few catch up days and a few quiet days at home. We all need a little break now and then - what about you - have you got any big plans? Last year's Christmas Mini Sessions were fabulous!! These were held over 3 weekends here at Tamborine, with a choice of outdoor (non-themed) or indoor with festive props. We had amazing luck with the weather until the very last session with patchy rain - so some of the outdoor sessions became last minute studio sessions instead! I love doing these mini sesisons - fast paced, fun and I get to meet so many wonderful new people along the way, as well as catching up with past clients who have come back to update their family photos for another year! Here are just some of the favourites from these mini sessions: A few weeks ago, after fuming at the kids once again about the constant messy state of their rooms (apparently, my kids are hoarders and all random pieces of rubbish are priceless and must be stored all over the floor), we decided to implement a chores list. This list was actually greeted with a bit of excitement at first, the prospect of having jobs to do appealed to their sense of importance and their desire to be more grown up. Their tasks are made up of simple things they can do each day to help the household run more smoothly... things like: Make your bed Pick up toys and put away Pack your school lunch Empty your lunchbox when you get home from school etc A few days in, the novelty had worn off and the joy of ticking things off a list had gone sour. The moaning started... "Chores are so BORING!" Welcome to the real world, kids! Strangely enough, there is one job on the list that doesn't require constant nagging - Poo Patrol. Yep, with two dogs in the family now, there is twice the amount of nuggets on the lawn. Bizarrely, this job is greeted with glee - apparently, shovelling doggy doo-doo is one of the funniest things in the world - they even take it in turns, one holds the bag while the other shovels (giggling at any near misses if the poo doesn't quite make it in the bag), and then they switch as they scour the lawn in search of new landmines. Occasionally the puppy Yohsi will run out and leave them a steaming fresh pile to collect, and you should hear the screams of laughter at picking up the smelly mess! Kristy was the winner of one of my competition giveaways recently, and chose to have her free family session at the parklands of Coomera Springs with her beautiful family of six kids. With the lake in the background and lots of trees to climb and pathways to explore, the kids had a fab time and we were able to capture some beautiful moments together. And these gorgeous little ones were rewarded at the end with some fun time at the playground! Kristy says: "Hilary did an amazing job with our family photos. She made us feel so comfortable. Mum of 6 and my 2 youngest being 2 years old and 6 months old were able to capture so many beautiful photos with them both looking at the camera at the same time" Here are some favourites from this session: If you enjoyed this, you might also like:
Blog: School hols Blog: The dog that eats everything it shouldn't Sweaty, chaotic, fun, noisy, emotional, hot... some of the words that sum up my first ever fun run last Sunday. I did the 10km jog for the International Women's Day in Brisbane, and it was quite an experience! Admittedly I had no idea what to expect, but it was a nice introduction to running events and I learned a lot.
But the best thing about the day was hanging out with friends who made the experience so much fun. And now the training starts for a half marathon!! Tamara, James and their three super cute kids came for a session in the studio recently, and as you can probably tell from these images, it was a bit of a hoot! All three kids had the most amazing eyes and it was fun trying to get them all to look at the same time! In the end, there was lots of cuddles and laughter, just what family-time should be about :) And what a wonderful way to celebrate the uniqueness of your family - capturing these fun memories forever! Thanks guys for spending a lovely morning with me! |
